Puerto Vallarta Proudly Welcomes Pets

If you’re not a fan of leaving your feline friend or canine companion at home while you enjoy a vacation, fret not. Puerto Vallarta is proud to welcome companion, service and comfort pets.  Visitors will find the city is pawsitively pet-friendly with endless fun to be had with a four-legged friend in tow.

Puerto Vallarta has a number of activities for travelers to enjoy with their furry friends. Soak up some sun on one of the city’s pet-friendly beaches. Or, stroll along the Malecon, a pedestrian-friendly boardwalk lined with restaurants, galleries, shops and bars, many of which allow animals. And if your pooch needs some pampering, Beach Dog in Mexico offers grooming services.

Travelers looking to potentially adopt a pet can visit SPCA PV, a beautiful facility that houses animals in need of good homes.

Mexico does not quarantine cats and dogs arriving from the United States or Canada, though visitors must present an International Certificate of Good Health signed by a certified veterinarian. Pets must be current on hepatitis, distemper and rabies vaccinations (bring all relevant paperwork). They also should be tested for ticks and tapeworm prior to traveling to Mexico. Upon arrival, all documents must be presented to an officer at the SAGARPA-SENASICA office located inside the Puerto Vallarta airport.
