Sandpiper

In 1965’s The Sandpiper, Elizabeth Taylor’s character falls for a married man—played by her real life husband, Richard Burton. One can imagine the two escaping to spend time together in this intimate suite, which opens onto Casa Kimberly’s courtyard and the lozenge-shaped pool, restored to be exactly as it was when Taylor and Burton lounged and swam there.

The impressive Colonial-style king-size bed has an inlaid bone motif and features hand-turned posts. An Oriental rug and select antiques finesse the suite. In the bath, clerestory windows give the shower, lined with handmade ceramic tiles, light and privacy, and the rainfall-style showerhead assures a luxuriant experience.
