Velvet

It was the movie that introduced a charismatic violet-eyed girl who loves her wild-mannered horse: With the debut of National Velvet in 1944, Elizabeth Taylor’s career was off and running. The Velvet Suite, on an upper floor of Casa Kimberly, is named for her character and offers sweeping views of Banderas Bay and the city below. A beautifully carved king-size bed anchors a spacious room appointed with an early-19th century armoire and other select antiques, as well as Oriental rugs and crystal chandeliers—one of which hangs over a freestanding claw-foot tub that is situated to take in the views from the privacy of the bath.

Sliding doors lead to a terrace with a raised Jacuzzi, lounge chairs, and a ceiling fan to keep the breezes flowing on warm days.
